Faith-Integrated Counseling in Ridgeland, MS and Online Across Mississippi
You should not have to choose between your faith and good clinical care.
You may be here because you have been keeping your faith and your struggles in separate rooms.
Maybe you have prayed about it for a long time, and you believe God is with you in it, and you are still not sleeping. Maybe people at church mean well and say the right verses, and it has made you feel more alone, not less.
Maybe you have been afraid that a therapist would treat your faith as part of the problem. Or you have had the opposite experience: counseling that offered Scripture where you needed real help.
Needing counseling is not a failure of faith. Christians get anxious, grieve, carry trauma, and struggle in marriage like everyone else. Good care can take both your faith and your pain seriously at the same time.

Who this helps
Who this is for
Christians who want a therapist who understands their world without needing it explained. Believers walking through doubt, deconstruction, or questions they are afraid to say out loud at church.
Pastors, ministry leaders, and their families, who carry everyone else's weight and rarely have a safe place to set it down.
People who have been hurt by a church, a leader, or a counselor who handled faith poorly, in either direction.
What we work on
What we work on
Anxiety, depression, and trauma, treated clinically, with faith as a resource if you want it.
Doubt and deconstruction, without pressure toward any particular outcome.
Church hurt and spiritual wounding from leaders, communities, or systems that should have been safe.
Marriages of faith, with couples work that honors your commitments and still does real clinical work.
Pastors and ministry families, in confidence.
Grief, guilt, and shame that have tangled with your sense of God and your own worth.
Calling, purpose, and meaning, when life has not turned out the way you expected.
Our approach
How Stillwaters approaches faith-integrated counseling
- 1
You set the spiritual tone.
In the first session your therapist asks what you want: faith woven in, a light touch, or set aside for now. You can change your mind at any time.
- 2
Clinical care first.
Anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship problems are treated with approaches like CBT, ACT, and EMDR. Faith is a resource within that care, not a replacement for it.
- 3
Couples work
draws on Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy, with room for the faith you share.
- 4
Honest theological engagement.
When you want to talk about prayer, Scripture, suffering, or where God is in your pain, your therapist will engage without easy answers.
Not every therapist uses every approach. Tell our intake coordinator what is happening and we will match you with someone whose training fits your situation.
Availability varies by therapist. It depends on which clinician you are matched with and how flexible your availability is. If you need to be seen sooner, say so when you call and we will tell you honestly what is possible.
Why it matters who you see for this
Faith handled poorly can do real harm, in either direction. A therapist who dismisses it can leave you feeling judged. A counselor who offers a verse in place of treatment can leave you blaming yourself when the verse does not fix it.
A licensed clinician who also understands faith can hold both. They can treat your anxiety as anxiety, your trauma as trauma, and still meet you in the spiritual questions those experiences raise.

What to expect
What to expect

- 1
The first call.
Tell our intake coordinator what is going on, and whether and how you want faith to be part of counseling. We match on that.
- 2
The first session.
Your therapist will ask about what brought you in and ask you directly how you want faith integrated. There are no assumptions either way. And if you are not sure what you believe, or you hold a different faith, you are welcome here too.
- 3
The work.
Sessions are usually weekly at the start. The work looks like any good counseling, with faith present to the degree you have asked for.
- 4
Length.
It depends on what you are working on. Trauma, church hurt, and long-standing patterns usually take longer. Your therapist should give you a real estimate after intake.
