Shame keeps people isolated. Honesty creates room for change.
When a marriage is in crisis, a secret has taken over, or the past keeps hijacking the present, it is easy to feel stuck between hiding and hoping something will change on its own. You may know what is wrong but still feel unsure how to repair it.
Brian calls his office a shame-free zone. He brings empathy, humility, appropriate humor, and directness to the work so clients can lower their guard, understand the roots of the problem, and take meaningful responsibility without being crushed by condemnation.
Get to the root of the problem, then build a way forward
Attachment is one of Brian's primary frameworks in both individual and couples therapy. He uses trauma-informed and attachment based care, EMDR, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Gottman Method interventions, and cognitive behavioral tools. Together, you can identify the protective patterns beneath conflict, shame, anxiety, or disconnection and build more secure ways of relating to yourself and others.
For couples, that may mean slowing the cycle of conflict, restoring safety after betrayal, and rebuilding trust. Brian has completed Gottman Method Levels 1 and 2, with advanced training in the Gottman Affairs, Addictions and Trauma track. For individuals, the work may involve processing trauma, confronting shame, changing compulsive patterns, or becoming more honest and grounded in relationships. He also works with LGBT individuals and families navigating sexual orientation, identity, and family relationships.
