Women's Counseling in Ridgeland, MS and Online Across Mississippi

You have been holding it together for everyone but yourself.

Stillwaters Counseling Group provides counseling for women in Ridgeland, Mississippi, and online for clients located anywhere in the state. Our female therapists work with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationships, motherhood, grief, and life transitions. They draw on CBT, EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Internal Family Systems, with faith and spirituality included when you ask for them.

You may be here because running on empty stopped being temporary.

You are the one who remembers the appointments, notices who is struggling, and keeps everything moving. People would say you are doing great. And underneath, you are tired in a way a weekend does not fix.

Maybe something specific happened: a loss, a diagnosis, a marriage under strain, a baby who changed everything, a parent who now needs you. Or maybe nothing happened, and you just do not recognize yourself anymore.

That is not selfishness, and it is not weakness. Women are often the last to take their own struggles seriously. Paying attention to yours is not taking anything from the people you love.

Who this helps

Who this is for

Women at every stage: young adults, wives and partners, mothers, daughters caring for aging parents, professionals, and women in retirement.

Women carrying grief, infertility, miscarriage, or pregnancy loss. Women who have survived trauma or experiences they have never told anyone.

Teen girls, with therapists who work with that age.

What we work on

What we work on

Anxiety and overwhelm, the racing thoughts and the sense that one dropped ball will bring everything down.

Depression and low mood, when joy has quietly gone missing.

Trauma, whether it happened last year or decades ago.

Relationships and marriage: communication, conflict, trust, and repair.

Motherhood and parenting, including postpartum struggles and the identity shift of becoming a mom.

Grief and loss, including miscarriage, infertility, divorce, and estrangement.

Life transitions: empty nest, career change, caregiving, illness, midlife.

Boundaries, people-pleasing, and self-worth, and reconnecting with who you are underneath the roles.

Our approach

How Stillwaters approaches women's counseling

  1. 1

    Listening first.

Your therapist starts by understanding what brought you in and what your life actually looks like right now.

  2. 2

    Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

for anxiety, depression, and the thought patterns that keep you stuck.

  3. 3

    EMDR,

for trauma and memories that still pull at you. Your therapist will assess whether it fits.

  4. 4

    Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

for values-based change when life will not slow down.

  5. 5

Emotionally Focused Therapy and Internal Family Systems

for attachment, connection, and the parts of you that feel in conflict.

  6. 6

Faith and spirituality, if you want them.

    It is always your call.

Not every therapist uses every approach. Tell our intake coordinator what is happening and we will match you with someone whose training fits your situation.

Availability varies by therapist. It depends on which clinician you are matched with and how flexible your availability is. If you need to be seen sooner, say so when you call and we will tell you honestly what is possible.

Why it matters who you see for this

Many of the struggles women bring in are shaped by roles and seasons that are specific to women's lives: pregnancy and loss, motherhood, caregiving, the expectation to hold everyone together. A therapist who works with those seasons regularly does not need them explained.

For some women it also matters to talk with another woman, especially about trauma, the body, or motherhood. If that matters to you, say so when you call, and we will match on it.

What to expect

What to expect

A counseling room at Stillwaters, with a sofa, two lamps, and tissues on the table.
  1. 1

    The first call.

Tell our intake coordinator what is going on in your own words, and any preference about your therapist.

  2. 2

    The first session.

Your therapist will ask about what brought you in, what is happening now, and what support you have. By the end you should have a sense of what the work will involve.

  3. 3

    The work.

Sessions are usually weekly at the start, with things to practice between sessions.

  4. 4

    Length.

It depends on what you are working on. Trauma and grief usually take longer. Your therapist should give you a real estimate after intake.
